Pac Man was one of the first games in the arcade machine market and has now become known world wide. Pac Man is an iconic arcade machine that was released 1980 in japan under the name of Puck Man. This arcade game was huge and generated a huge amount of money.

Pac man is a huge arcade machine that allows you to play only one game, the machine has built in controls made especially for the Pac Man game. It also has a built in monitor unlike other gaming systems. The arcade machine can play the game perfectly without any problems becuase the hardware is used to play only one game instead of lots of different ones.

The system is extremely addictive and forces competetiveness with others, this makes for a great experience. The Arcade promotes social interaction between kids as it is in a store which is usualy filled with other kids unlike consoles where the kids are isolated in thier rooms. Alot of the games on the arcade systems have shaped and defined the game genres and is responsible for the way games are today.

Limitations:
The Arcade platform has many limitations and isnt as versitile as the other platforms. Only one game can be played per machine unlike any other platform and buying a machine for yourself can cost anywhere between £1,000 and £3,000. The system needs coins to operate, the game is basic and tries to quickly defeat the player so they have to insert more money to continue to play. Arcade systems are usually machines used for gambling which give low chances of giving a lot of money prizes.

Future developments
The Arcades future isnt very bright but some of these suggestions could put some light at the end of the tunnel for the future of Arcade machines. When developing a newer arcade machine i recommend using higher resolution screen and better sound quality to make users more engrossed in the game and potentially spend more money on it. Also in my opinion they should be able to play other games as well so that it makes it more worth it for poeple to buy an expensive arcade machine for personal use.
